In an aggressive expansion and development plan, the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan will launch seven new cars and several new dealerships in the Indian car market by 2016. In January 2013, we reported that the company will introduce 10 new products in order to achieve 10 per cent of the total market share in India. Out of these, 2 products were already launched including Terrano SUV and Micra Active.
Nissan betting on its low cost Datsun brand, which it revived after 37 years to penetrate the growing entry level market in India. The company will launch 3 Datsun cars in India including Go hatch and Go+ MPV in 2014 and a compact SUV in 2015. Moreover, the facelift version of Sunny sedan is also on the cards, which is expected to hit the market shores by the second half of 2014.
Nissan has recently unveiled the next generation Qashqai SUV, which will also make its way to the Indian car market by the end of 2014 or by early 2015. The company's flagship Teana sedan failed to generate good volume despite being an excellent product. It was stated that the Japanese automaker picked wrong time to introduce the Teana sedan, however the company now aims to launch the new Teana in the Indian car market in 2015 with better features.
Additionally, Nissan will also launch the next generation X-Trail SUV, which was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle gets a completely new look, features and now has improved riding capabilities.
