Mercedes-Benz has revealed the much anticipated premium saloon C-Class which is also scheduled to unveil at the Detroit Motor Show in January. It appears to be a phenomenal vehicle, courtesy its light weight design that reduces almost 100 kgs of weight. Top-notch safety features, excellent aerodynamics and new robust engines further grace this impeccable sedan.
Mercedes-Benz has extended the wheel base by 80 mm this time, which subsequently results in a much spacious interior cabin. The overall length of wheel base is 2480 mm. The company has also exceeded its overall length by 95mm in order to make more space for the luggage and other belongings in the boot area. The boot space now stands at 480 litres, while the length and width of the vehicle are 4686mm and 1810 mm, respectively. The 40mm extended width accommodates rear passengers with great comfort and convenience. While designing the exteriors of Mercedes Benz C-Class, the company has harnessed the perfect blend of technology and engineering to its best. It is being equipped with H7 halogen headlamps as standard head lamps. Additionally, two energy saving LED variants are also on offer. Mercedes has executed the "LED Intelligent Light System" immensely well which is reflected well by the rear lamps and brake lights in the rear portion.
Interior cabin is graced by a centrally positioned free-standing central display with a screen diagonal of 17.78 cm (7 inches), or 21.33 cm (8.4 inches) if COMAND Online is specified. In addition to this, 5 round A/C vents enhances the comfort level of the occupants. The company has introduced an electromechanical Direct Steering system which would give a comfortable time to driver while turing the vehicle on narrow roads. As far as the safety features are concerned, Mercedes has included almost every modern feature in order to minimize the impact of a collision. These include 3-point seat belts with pyrotechnical belt tensioning and belt force limitation, pelvisbags for driver and front passenger,a newly developed windowbag, sidebags for the outer rear seats, a kneebag for the driver etc.
It will be offered in three different engine options; two being in petrol fuel trims while the remaining one in diesel. There would be 3 variants available for sale with the aforementioned three different engine options. Mercedes Benz C 220 BlueTEC would feature the diesel mill, while both C 180 and C 200 would sport a petrol powertrain. The petrol variants would be coupled with a new 6-speed manual transmission while the diesel engine would be having a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. All these three variants would be followed by a fourth hybrid variant C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID which would comprise of a four-cylinder diesel engine and a compact electric motor in due course of time.
