Ford India to launch 4 new cars by 2015

Like other carmakers, Ford India also sees huge potential in the developing Indian auto market to further enhance its business. In an aggressive product and development plans, the American automaker is aiming to launch at least 4 new products by the mid of this decade. Earlier, the company announced to have 8 new cars in India, out of which four already introduced including EcoSport.

According to some media reports the company will introduce the Figo replacement at the next year's Indian Auto Expo, but we believe it will not happen anytime soon. It is a well known fact that any car has a minimum life-cycle of five years and Figo was introduced in 2010, so we expect that its replacement will come by the end of 2015. It is also expected that the company could introduce the Figo facelift to keep this product fresh in the market.

We also learned that Ford could introduce a compact car which will compete against the likes of Hyundai Eon, Chevy Spark, Maruti Alto, Nissan Micra Active and upcoming Datsun Go hatchback. However, nothing concrete has been revealed by the company yet. Moreover, the company will launch the new Endeavour by the end of 2014 or by early 2015. It will be based on the recently unveiled new Everest concept and will rival against Toyota Fortuner.

The new Endeavour is likely to share a lot of styling cues from the company's very famous EcoSport. Under the hood, the SUV is likely to house the 2.2-litre common-rail diesel engine producing 150bhp and a 3-litre diesel.

Media reports also suggest that Ford India will introduce a new hatch against the likes of Polo, i20 and Swift, but it has EcoSport in the price range of these hatchbacks. So, we expect that a very little possibility of such product, however the company could introduce a compact sedan against the likes of Amaze and Dzire.

So, the four new products from Ford India could be a compact hatch, new Endeavour, 2015 Figo and a new car- either a compact sedan or a premium hatchback.
