Hyundai could unveil new Santa Fe at 2014 Indian Auto Expo

India's largest carmaker, Hyundai has been testing its all new Santa Fe on the Indian roads, which is expected to be launched in the country in 2014. The company hasn't revealed the exact launch date, but we expect it to be unveiled at the next year's Indian Auto Expo. This time the South Korean automaker will locally assemble the vehicle at its Chennai manufacturing unit to keep its costs down. The current model comes via CBU route, which makes it pricier against the competition.

The new Santa Fe was first unveiled at the last year New York Motor Show, and it has already been launched in several international markets. The next SUV features the immensely famous Fluidic Design philosophy, which we have already seen on several successful Hyundai's. The new model is 30mm longer, 45mm lower and 5mm wider than the current model. It will be powered by the same 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 194bhp and 422Nm of peak torque. The vehicle will be made available in both six-speed manual and automatic transmission. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 22-26 lakh.

New Santa Fe will be a five-seater SUV, however it is also speculated that the company could also bring the 5+2 version for the Indian buyers. It will come equipped with various features including Hill Assist, ESP, touchscreen infotainment system, Satellite navigation, Xenon headlamps, Day time running LED lamps, keyless entry and push start, reverse parking sensor, tyre pressure monitor and others. The SUV will ride on 18/19-inch alloy wheels.
