Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading SUV manufacturer, has been awarded the National Energy Conservation Award 2013 for its energy conservation efforts at its Zaheerabad automotive manufacturing facility. The plant has managed to reduce Specific Electricity consumption by 18% and Specific Thermal Energy consumption by 29.96% during FY13. The plant has won the first prize for the 3rd consecutive year which resulted in it achieving the Top Rank Prize in the Indian automobile manufacturing sector.
Mahindra grabs National Energy Conservation Award for Automobile Manufacturing Sector
With this, the Zaheerabad Plant has won the National Energy Conservation award for the 8th time in a row.
The Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, presented the award at a function in New Delhi to commemorate the National Energy Conservation Day celebrated on 16 December 2013. Also present on the occasion was Union Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge), Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

The National Energy Conservation Awards are instituted by the Government of India, Ministry of Power. The awards recognize innovations and achievements for efficient utilization and conservation of energy in various sectors including industries, buildings, aviation and municipalities among others.
