Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury carmaker will unveil the all-new 2014 C-Class at the North American International Auto Sow in Detroit. However, according to German media the next generation C-Class will be revealed on December 16. It is speculated that all the details of the new model will be disclosed on the same day.
The 2014 Mercedes C-Class will be made available in both petrol and diesel version. It is expected to be offered in a C220 BlueTEC diesel version that churns out 170bhp. The petrol models- C180 and C200 producing 156bhp and 184bhp, respectively.
The luxury vehicle will be offered with a range of exterior paint schemes, including diamond silver, brilliant blue, palladium silver, iridium silver and polar white. It is also said that the company also plans to replace the Elegance trim with Line Exclusive.
The next generation C-Class will get a 7-inch free standing central display as standard and an optional 8.4-inch color monitor. It also sports an optional head-up display and a touch-controlled pad. The cabin features an advanced AC system which works with GPS to detect tunnels. The front passenger seat of the car is facilitated with a sensor which disassociates the front passenger airbag if it finds a child seat is in place.
The new C-Class features an aluminum hybrid body, which makes it around 100kg lighter than the current model. It will be the first vehicle in its segment that can be fitted with an air suspension (AIRMATIC) on the front and rear axles.
