While the Indian car market is waiting for the launch of the new Toyota Corolla, the Japanese carmaker has launched the sedan in the Indonesian market. Only petrol version with two variants has been introduced in the market.
The new Corolla is wider and longer than the current generation model and the wheelbase has been extended by 100mm, Based on the Furia Concept car, the 2014 Corolla gets the same 1.8-litre petrol engine in Indonesia that churns out a maximum power output of 151PS and 190Nm of top torque. This engine will be paired to either six-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
The manual Corolla costs 372.1 million rupiah (around 19 lakh), while the automatic version is priced at 400 million Indonesian rupiah (around 20.5 lakh). The standard model gets the AC, touchscreen navigation, dual airbags ABS with EBD and Brake Assist and others. The automatic model comes equipped with projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, Climatronic control, rain sensing wipers, leather wrapped steering, and few others.
The all new Corolla will make its India debut at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. The vehicle has already been spotted quite a few times during its test rounds on the Indian streets. It is expected to go on sale by the next year's festive season or by early 2015.
